Therapeutic action: Stimulating tonic, diuretic, anthelmintic (vermifuge, taeniafuge), uterine tonic, emetic (large doses), sialagogue (fresh). False unicorn root is one of our very best stimulative tonics to the reproductive organs, a valuable corrective agent in all types of female disorders (as well as male) in the genito-urinary area; for impotence, kidney and liver problems, etc. This herb is one of the best and most positive stimulative tonics to the uterus and ovaries (it can be used to correct almost any problem in the regenerative organs of both male and female); yet it is also an excellent general tonic. False unicorn is very beneficial to the mucous membranes and is often well-received by the stomach in delicate conditions where it rejects almost all else. It is, therefore, a most valuable regenerative, revitalizing agent in cases of dyspepsia and weakness in the reproductive organs. Do not, however, use this herb for a weakened female where pregnancy is undesirable, for it will accentuate the possibility of conception. Medicinal uses: Loss of appetite, Bright's disease, colic, diabetes, digestive disorders, dropsy, dyspepsia, enuresis, gastric-intestinal weakness (mucous membranes), genital-urinary atony (mucous membranes), kidney atony, nausea, prevent miscarriage, prostate problems, tape-worm, uterine problems (barrenness, hemorrhage, leucorrhea, menorrhagia, miscarriage, uterine atony, uterine prolapses, sterility, relaxed vagina, spermatorrhea, etc.). Preparation: Decoction, elixir, fluid extract, powder, tincture. When ordering false unicorn root, be sure to distinguish it from true unicorn (Aletris farinosa), or else you will not get the therapeutic results you desire. The powder or fluid extract is generally very readily obtained, but few stores ever carry the root itself. |
