Parts used: Whole herb. Therapeutic action: Astringent, diuretic, tonic, pectoral, stimulant. Ground ivy has a very beneficial action on the kidney and liver. It is useful as an anti-scorbutic agent, and has cured severe skin eruptions which have defied medical treatment for months. It tones the stomach, and is effective in pulmonary troubles generally. Sweetened with honey, ground ivy may be drunk liberally as a very cooling beverage. Medicinal uses: Deafness, sore eyes, kidney disorders, dyspepsia, scurvy, abscesses, gatherings, tumors, cough, pulmonary complaints, skin eruptions, sores, lead-colic, headache, nasal congestion. Preparation: Fluid extract, infusion, powder, tincture. |
