Kava

Historically speaking, Kava has been used for the following benefits: Kava helps calm the nervous system by binding to GABA sites in the brain and by exerting generalized effects on the brain’s limbic system. Kava also relaxes skeletal and smooth muscle tissue in many parts of the body. It also may help to relieve mild pain. It has been used to help people recover from stroke because of its ability to protect the brain from damage caused by oxygen deprivation and may also be helpful in adjunct treatment in epilepsy due to its anti-convulsive properties. Much of the uses are still experimental, however, this is the history.
