Milk
Thistle has been used historically to help support liver health for over
2,000 years. The main active constituent, which is known as silymarin, is
made up of three parts: silibinin, silidianin, and silicristin. This herb is
regarded by many herbalists as the perfect liver herb or food. It helps to
protect the liver from the harmful elements, such as alcohol abuse, illegal
or legal drugs and other potentially liver harming substances. Milk thistle
is packed full of powerful antioxidants which help to protect and regenerate
the liver. Milk
thistle has been used historically to help prevent toxins from entering the
liver via guarding the organ’s various entrances, the membranes of liver
cells. By slowing the rate at which the liver absorbs harmful substances, the
toxins are excreted through the kidneys before they have the chance to do
damage to the liver. The amazing ability of this herb in protecting and
regenerating liver cells, is absolutely incredible. This herb should be in
every first aid kit, home, vehicle, etc. for emergency use as well as use on
a regular basis. When
the damage to the liver has already taken place, Milk thistle also aids the
liver in repairing injured cells and regenerating new ones. This is
accomplished via stimulating protein synthesis through the enzyme RNA
polymerase I. Protein is the basic building blocks of the cell walls, cell
structure, and enzymes that are vital to all body processes. There are
currently no known side effects of this herb and no known drug interactions. |
